Sleep

Melatonin is a natural hormone produced by the body and helps to regulate sleep. It is suitable to treat many sleeping disorders like delayed sleep phase, insomnia and jet-lag. It can be used in both children and adults. We can compound both immediate and modified release capsules or flavoured mixtures. Melatonin requires a prescription from the doctor and can be made to many different strengths.

Reflux in children

Reflux is common, affecting at least 40% of infants. It usually begins before 8 weeks of age and peaks at 4 months, resolving in most cases at 1 year of age. It often presents as effortless vomiting and may occur several times a day. Reflux can cause considerable distress for parents but can often be managed with reassurance, support and anticipatory guidance. However, some infants may develop gastro-oesophageal relfux disease. This condition involves vomiting with other symptoms like refusal to feed, pronounced irritability or poor growth. In this case a doctor may consider prescribing omeprazole. This medicine is used to reduce the amount of acid being produced by the stomach and settle the symptoms.

Commercially, omeprazole is only available as a tablet, however at Pardeys we recognise the difficultly of administering this dosage form to a child. We can compound an omperazole mixture to suit your child. It is extremely well tolerated, is given in a small dose, has a long expiry and can be prepared within 20 minutes in most circumstances.

MS

If you have MS, and have spoken to a specialist about a more personalised approach using medications not commonly available commercially, then we can help. We commonly supply the most popular range of compounded medication for Multiple Sclerosis.
